US pop star Madonna has called on Pope Leo XIV to travel to Gaza and help bring hope to children living there.
In a post on Instagram, the singer said the Pope was “the only one of us who cannot be denied entry” and urged him to act quickly.
“Most Holy Father, please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it’s too late,” she wrote. “As a mother, I cannot bear to watch their suffering. The children of the world belong to everyone.”
Her appeal comes as several countries, including the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan, warned that famine is unfolding in Gaza and called for urgent action to stop starvation.
Israel denies there is famine in the territory and has accused UN agencies of failing to collect and deliver aid at the borders. The UN says the amount of aid entering Gaza is far below what is needed and blames restrictions and delays at Israeli-controlled crossings.
Madonna also urged for “humanitarian gates to be fully opened” to save children, adding, “There is no more time. Please say you will go.”
Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly called for a ceasefire in Gaza. In July, he condemned attacks on civilians, including a strike that killed three people sheltering in a Catholic church in Gaza City.
He urged the international community to protect civilians and follow humanitarian law.
