The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has dismissed rumours on social media claiming its Managing Director and Kannywood star, Ali Nuhu, is dead.
The false reports, which went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp, alleged that Nuhu died in a car accident. Some users even circulated fake videos mourning him.
In a statement on Monday, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, said the news was false.
“Ali Nuhu is alive, well, and carrying out his duties as Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation,” he said.
Etuk described the rumours as “malicious” and warned that those behind them will be punished.
The Corporation asked Nigerians to ignore the fake news, noting that Nuhu has remained active in his role since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in February 2024.
