NFF President visits injured Taiwo Awoniyi in UK

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has visited Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi at his home in Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Awoniyi is recovering from a serious injury he sustained during a Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City. The striker collided with the goalpost while trying to score and later underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured intestine.

Gusau, who was joined by members of the NFF Executive Board, said the visit was to check on Awoniyi’s health and show support. He expressed happiness seeing the player in good spirits and making steady progress.

Speaking during the visit, Gusau called Awoniyi a key figure for both Nigeria and Nottingham Forest, and prayed for his full recovery. He assured that the NFF would keep in touch with the player and support him throughout his rehabilitation.

Awoniyi thanked the NFF for the visit and said he was touched by the love and encouragement. He added that his recovery is going well under the care of his doctors and club medical team. He remains hopeful of returning stronger and getting back to football soon.

The visit by the NFF highlights its continued commitment to the well-being of Nigerian footballers, both at home and abroad.
