Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have been knocked out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after a heavy 4-0 defeat to Sudan in their second group game.

The Nigerians thought they had gone ahead in the 22nd minute when Anthony Ijoma finished off a counterattack, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Just three minutes later, Sudan took the lead in the 25th minute. Things got worse for Nigeria before halftime as Sudan scored from the penalty spot in the 44th minute to make it 2-0.

In the second half, Sudan added two more goals — one in the 55th minute and another in the 62nd — to seal the win.

The result leaves Nigeria bottom of Group D with no points and out of contention for the knockout stage, even if they win their last match against Congo.

Senegal and Sudan are level at the top with four points each, while Congo sit third with one point.
