Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of Shina, the only son of veteran Yoruba actress, Peju Ogunmola.
The tragic incident reportedly happened on Monday, September 1, 2025, while the 56-year-old actress was reportedly on a movie set.
According to Merit Newspaper, Shina died shortly after completing his one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
His sudden death has left the entertainment industry in shock. Colleagues, friends, and fans have taken to social media to express their condolences, describing the loss as devastating not only to Ogunmola’s family but also to the Yoruba movie community.
“This is beyond painful. Our thoughts and prayers are with Peju Ogunmola in this dark moment,” one sympathiser wrote. Another added: “She has given so much to the industry, it is heartbreaking that she now faces this kind of sorrow.”
Peju Ogunmola is the daughter of the late dramatist Kola Ogunmola and wife of veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe. She has remained one of the most respected figures in the Yoruba movie industry for decades.
As of the time of filing this report, the family had not released an official statement.
