Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, says Nigeria has what it takes to defeat South Africa when both teams meet in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein today.

Nigeria are third in Group C with 10 points from seven matches two wins, four draws and one loss. South Africa lead the table with 16 points, while Benin Republic sit second with 11. Only the group winners will qualify automatically for the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Eagles, who are six points behind Bafana Bafana, need a victory to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Nwabali, speaking to NFF TV, expressed confidence in the team. “I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. We respect South Africa because they are topping the group, but even though it’s going to be a tough game, I believe we will come out strong,” he said.

“Every game has its own plan. You might have seen them against others, but it’s a different approach when it comes to Nigeria. I feel we will win that game.”

Nigeria are coming off a 1-0 win over Rwanda, and Nwabali believes they can build on that result in today’s match.
