Former United States President Barack Obama has released his 2025 list of favourite songs, sharing the playlist on his official social media pages.
The yearly list features songs that stood out to him during the year, cutting across pop, hip-hop, alternative music and Afrobeats, further highlighting the global rise of African music.
Nigerian rapper Olamide made the list with his hit song “99,” which features Young Jonn, Asake, Seyi Vibez and Daecolm. The track has enjoyed wide airplay and strong streaming numbers in Nigeria and other countries.
Afrobeats star Burna Boy, a regular on Obama’s annual playlists, also appeared with “TaTaTa,” his collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott. Nigerian-born British singer Obongjayar was included as well, with his song “Not In Surrender.”
Other artists on Obama’s 2025 music list include Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Lady Gaga, BLACKPINK, Rosalía and Olivia Dean.
Obama, who releases a music list every year, said the songs represent tracks that inspired him and left a strong impression throughout the year.
