An OnlyFans model popularly known for her resemblance to Kim Kardashian died after undergoing an illegal cosmetic procedure in a hotel room, authorities have said.
Christina Ashten Gourkani, 34, who was known online as Ashten G, died in April 2023 after silicone was injected into her buttocks during an unlicensed procedure near San Francisco International Airport.
Woman Jailed Over Model’s Death
Vivian Alexandra Gomez, 53, has now been sentenced to four years in prison over Gourkani’s death.
Gomez was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and practising medicine without a licence after prosecutors said she carried out the illegal procedure in California.
Authorities said Gomez had travelled from Florida to perform the treatment before returning to the state after the incident.
Procedure Took Place In Hotel Room
The cosmetic procedure reportedly took place inside a hotel room near San Francisco International Airport.
Prosecutors said Gourkani became seriously ill shortly after receiving the injections and later suffered cardiac arrest.
She eventually died from respiratory failure, with officials saying silicone was found in her bloodstream.
Fame As Kim Kardashian Lookalike
Gourkani had built a large following online because of her striking resemblance to reality television star Kim Kardashian.
She frequently shared photos on social media and was widely recognised by fans as a Kardashian lookalike.
Her death attracted public attention because of her online fame and the circumstances surrounding the procedure.
Family Pays Tribute
Following her death, Gourkani’s family paid tribute to her, describing her as a much-loved woman whose memory would remain with them.
They said she would “forever be our guardian angel” as they mourned her sudden passing.
Warning Over Illegal Cosmetic Procedures
The case has renewed warnings about the dangers of unlicensed cosmetic treatments, especially underground procedures involving silicone injections.
Health officials have repeatedly warned that such procedures can lead to serious complications, including infection, blood clots, organ failure and death.
Gomez was later arrested in Florida and extradited to California to face charges.
The case has again drawn attention to the risks people face when cosmetic procedures are carried out outside approved medical settings.
