Nigerian broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat has publicly apologized to singer Naira Marley for previously linking him to the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

During an on-air program at Agidigbo FM in Ibadan, Hamzat announced that the station will resume playing Naira Marley’s music after a two-year ban imposed in 2024.

The ban followed public outrage and speculation that tied Naira Marley to Mohbad’s passing, a claim that investigations have since disproven.

In his apology, Hamzat expressed regret for misjudging the singer, admitting the decision was made based on assumptions. He stated that Marlian Records’ music would return to airwaves at the station, symbolizing reconciliation.

The move has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising the broadcaster for owning up to his mistake, while others believe the decision disrespects Mohbad’s memory.
