Paul Onuachu joins Trabzonspor on permanent deal

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has completed a permanent move from Southampton to Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Southampton confirmed the transfer in an official statement released on Friday, June 27.

Southampton Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed with Trabzonspor for the transfer of striker Paul Onuachu,” the statement read.

The 31-year-old forward leaves the English side after spending two and a half years with the Saints. During that time, he made 40 appearances and scored four goals.

Onuachu spent the 2023/2024 season on loan at Trabzonspor, where he impressed with 15 goals in 21 matches.

“We thank Paul for his efforts during his time as a Saints player and wish him well,” the club added.

Southampton, who were recently relegated from the English Premier League, will play in the Championship next season.

Onuachu made his debut for Nigeria in 2019 and has earned 24 caps, scoring three goals. He was part of the Super Eagles team that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
