Leo Edochie, son of Nollywood veteran Pete Edochie, has dismissed online rumours claiming that his father is dead.
The false report, which circulated on X, alleged that the 78-year-old actor had passed away in a hospital under “unknown circumstances” and claimed the news was confirmed by his “elder son.”
The post read: “Nollywood actor Pete Edochie have just passed away at the age of 78 after being rushed to the hospital last due to unknown circumstances. His elder son have confirmed the passing of Pete Edochie this morning on his IG. It’s was a tragic moment he said, rest in peace sir.”
In response, Leo Edochie described the claim as a “lie from the pit of hell” and assured the public that his father is alive and well.
“I have been receiving calls over some nonsense that people have been posting that our father has died. It’s a lie from the pit of hell. Our father is not just alive but hale and hearty,” he said.
He also condemned those spreading the rumours, saying: “If you wish someone died, two things happen: he lives very long, and you will die before him. Shame on you all. God punish you.”
This is not the first time such hoaxes have targeted Pete Edochie. In 2022, another false report claimed he had died in an auto crash. According to the family, malicious rumours about the veteran actor have persisted for more than two decades.
