Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, and his rival, Speed Darlington, exchanged heated words during their weigh-in for the ‘Chaos In The Ring’ boxing event set for today at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.

Unlike other boxers who went through their weigh-ins with minimal drama, the two musicians clashed with taunts and shoves, forcing security to step in. Portable then showed off some shadow boxing, claiming victory in advance.

“I just came out of prison, and they’ve cut away all the bad parts of me. I’ve already won this fight,” said Portable, known for his hit song "Zazuu."

The street-savvy musician went on to boast, “I’m a fighter, and they paid me to beat you. I’ll beat you because you’re a mosquito, and a mosquito can’t beat a lion.”

Earlier, Portable had expressed interest in fighting former boxing champion Anthony Joshua for a large sum, saying Speed Darlington was not worthy of his attention.

Speed Darlington fired back with his own taunts: “You can’t beat me! I’ll take your belt, and after I win, I’ll bury you in the coffin.”

The bad blood between the two began when Speed Darlington offered Portable a N500,000 fee to perform at one of his events, an amount that Portable felt was disrespectful.

Nigerian Boxing Board of Control Chairman, Rafiu Ladipo, attended the weigh-in and reminded the boxers of the importance of proper medical checks before the match, especially following the death of boxer Segun 'Success' Olanrewaju in Ghana last month.

The ‘Chaos In The Ring’ event, organized by Game Rush and Balmoral Promotions, will feature top fighters from six countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Italy, the UK, and Tanzania. Nigerian boxer Basit “Jokerboy” Adebayo will also fight for the World Boxing Organization Youth International lightweight title.

Portable’s last celebrity boxing match was a victory over Nollywood actor Charles Okocha in December 2023, where he triumphed after four rounds.

With both musicians having completed their medical checks and weigh-ins, fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be a thrilling celebrity boxing match.
