Portable Faces Okocha Again After Losing Boxing Crown To Carter Efe
Street-pop singer Portable will return to the boxing ring on July 31 for a rematch with actor and internet personality Charles Okocha at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The fight, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was announced by Balmoral Promotions and is expected to reopen one of the loudest celebrity boxing rivalries in Nigeria.
This time, Portable will not be entering the ring as an untouchable champion.
The singer recently suffered his first celebrity boxing defeat after comedian Carter Efe beat him at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event in Lagos.
All three judges scored the fight in Carter Efe’s favour, ending Portable’s unbeaten run and stripping him of the aura he carried after earlier victories over Okocha and Speed Darlington.
Before the Carter Efe defeat, Portable had built a reputation as one of the biggest names in Nigeria’s celebrity boxing scene, winning two championship belts and using his victories to fuel his public image.
But the July 31 rematch now gives him a chance to restore his pride.
For Okocha, the fight is about revenge.
The actor has repeatedly challenged the outcome of his first fight with Portable, insisting that the result was unfair and calling for another chance to settle the matter in the ring.
Their rivalry began in 2023 after Portable accused Okocha of cheating him in a business deal reportedly worth about ₦40 million.
The disagreement quickly moved from social media exchanges to the boxing ring.
In their first fight at Landmark Beach, Lagos, Portable was declared winner after four rounds.
He started strongly and dominated the early stages of the contest, while Okocha fought back in the later rounds.
The judges eventually awarded the fight to Portable, but Okocha refused to accept the result quietly.
The rematch now places both men under pressure.
Portable needs a comeback win after losing his celebrity boxing title to Carter Efe, while Okocha needs victory to prove that the first fight did not tell the full story.
The event will also feature another boxing contest between Agbaje and Musa.
But the main attention will be on Portable and Okocha, two entertainers whose rivalry has moved from business accusations to public insults and now another night of punches.
For Portable, it is a chance to silence doubts after defeat.
For Okocha, it is a chance to finally get the revenge he has been demanding.
