President Bola Tinubu has commended the Super Eagles for their impressive performance against Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff semi-final, urging the team to continue pushing until they secure qualification.
In a statement on Wednesday, the President described Nigeria’s 4-1 extra-time win as a true display of the “Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds.”
“This is the true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring… The nation stands with you. Soar!” Tinubu said.
The President’s praise comes after a thrilling match where Chidera Ejuke and Victor Osimhen starred, leading Nigeria to a come-from-behind victory and a place in the playoff final.
He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the team as they prepare to face the winner of the Cameroon vs DR Congo semi-final in Sunday night’s playoff final, with a spot in the intercontinental playoff at stake.
