Nollywood actress and producer Bolaji Ogunmola has urged Nigerians to support the country’s film industry by investing in movies and avoiding pirated platforms, stressing the importance of securing royalties for actors and filmmakers.
Speaking on X, Ogunmola addressed the ongoing debate about royalties for actors and emphasized that financial support from viewers is key to sustaining the industry.
“If you want royalties, back end. Put your money in the film. Negotiate a slashed fee or nothing at all for a percentage. Put body joor. Let’s all enjoy the benefit of the hard labour,” she stated.
“You can’t want lifetime royalties for actors and still be watching their film on pirated platforms now! Ejoor now! Please… help us. Moviebox / Telegram is not the place to watch Nigerian content. Help us.”
Ogunmola also advised actors to invest in their own projects, noting that doing so ensures they receive future royalties and benefit from their work.
The actress, who has been recognized as one of the top Nollywood producers of 2025, continues to advocate for stronger support structures for local filmmakers and increased awareness of piracy’s impact on the industry.
