Quadruple-chasing Arsenal hammer Wigan Athletic to storm FA Cup fifth round

Arsenal sent a strong warning to their rivals after cruising to a 4-0 demolition of Wigan Athletic to reach the FA Cup fifth round in style.

The side led by Mikel Arteta wasted no time asserting dominance at the Emirates Stadium, scoring four goals inside the opening 27 minutes.

Noni Madueke opened the scoring before Gabriel Martinelli doubled the lead. A Jack Hunt own goal made it three before Gabriel Jesus completed the rout with a composed finish.

The victory puts Arsenal into the last 16 for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2020 — still the only major silverware won under Arteta.

With Arsenal currently leading the Premier League, set to face Manchester City in the League Cup final and already through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, talk of an historic quadruple is growing louder.

Arteta said his players showed quality and intensity, especially in the first half which effectively settled the tie.
