Manchester United returned to the Premier League top four after a dramatic 3–2 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, sealed by a late stoppage-time winner from Benjamin Sesko.
It was another thrilling afternoon under interim manager Michael Carrick, whose unbeaten run continued as United made it three straight league wins in remarkable fashion.
United took the lead through Casemiro, who headed home after a penalty decision was overturned, before Matheus Cunha doubled the advantage with a thunderous strike to put the hosts in control.
Fulham, however, refused to go quietly. The visitors pulled one back in the 85th minute when Raul Jimenez converted a penalty after Harry Maguire was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box.
Drama exploded in added time. Fulham substitute Kevin stunned Old Trafford in the 92nd minute with a sensational curling effort into the top corner to make it 2–2, silencing the home crowd.
But United had the final say. In the 94th minute, Bruno Fernandes burst down the right flank and delivered a low cross for Sesko, who took one touch before smashing home the winner to spark wild celebrations.
Despite Fulham pushing for a last-gasp equaliser during nine minutes of added time, United held firm to secure the points and climb back into the Champions League places.
The result piles more pressure on rivals chasing the top four and further fuels speculation over Carrick’s future, as the former midfielder continues to impress in the dugout at Old Trafford.
