Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has urged head coach Eric Chelle to lean on Ademola Lookman’s set-piece skills and Tolu Arokodare’s strength in attack when Nigeria face South Africa in today’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.

Nigeria go into the game after a 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo, where Arokodare came off the bench to score the decisive goal just minutes after his introduction. The result kept the Super Eagles within reach of Group C leaders, South Africa. A victory today would reduce the gap to just three points.

Speaking on SuperSport, Siasia said South Africa, who are enjoying their best qualifying run in more than 20 years, will be a tough opponent, but Nigeria can get a result if they play smart.

“We need to keep the ball, win free-kicks, and allow players like Lookman to make the difference. Arokodare can also be important in holding up play and creating chances,” Siasia advised.

He also cautioned against defensive mistakes and urged the Eagles to take advantage of set-pieces, while reminding South Africa that playing Nigeria has never been easy.
