Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi has parted ways with the club after four years in charge. The decision was announced on Tuesday and described as a "mutual agreement" between both parties.
According to reports from Italian media, Inzaghi is set to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal on a two-year deal worth €50 million.
The announcement follows Inter's heavy 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday. The defeat ended the club’s hopes of winning any trophies this season.
In a joint meeting held on Tuesday with club president Giuseppe Marotta, both sides agreed to go their separate ways. Inzaghi’s current contract had been set to run until 2026.
Inzaghi, 49, took over as Inter coach in 2021. During his time at the club, he won one Serie A title — Inter’s 20th — and two Italian Cups. He also led the team to two Champions League finals, though they lost both.
Inter had been on course to repeat their historic treble-winning season of 2010, but they ended up without silverware after falling short in all competitions.
The club praised Inzaghi in its farewell message, highlighting his “passion, professionalism and dedication” and saying his achievements had helped restore Inter’s place among the top clubs in Europe and Italy.
Marotta also thanked the coach for his efforts and honesty during their final meeting, saying, “Only when we have fought together day by day can we have a sincere conversation like today’s.”
In his own statement, Inzaghi expressed gratitude to his players, coaching staff, and supporters. “I will never forget you,” he said.
