Popular Nigerian singer, Chike, has accused a Nigerian woman identified as Chioma Nneoma Ochibili of allegedly defrauding him of $20,000 in what he described as a fake business arrangement.
The singer made the allegation in a series of posts shared on X on Monday morning.
According to Chike, he gave the woman $20,000 for a business venture, only to later discover that the supposed business did not exist.
“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief? That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money,” the singer wrote.
He added that he only realised much later that he may have been one of several people allegedly duped by the woman.
“$50,000 in the air. $20,000 of my hard-earned money I didn’t see either. How do I find out this late that I’m just another person she has duped. Even me I de laugh myself,” he wrote.
The singer also warned members of the public against entering into any form of business relationship with the woman.
Responding to questions from followers about the nature of the transaction, Chike insisted that the specific business involved was not the main issue.
“Whatever business Chioma sells to you is not the issue. The big issue here is that the business does not even exist, which then equates to fraud,” he stated.
Chike further disclosed that he has already begun taking steps to recover the money he allegedly lost in the deal.
“For context, it was a business transaction, but when the business does not even exist that becomes fraud. When you find out that this is Chioma’s modus operandi, it becomes worrisome,” he added.
