The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Egypt in a friendly match ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to a statement from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), the match was arranged at the request of Egypt’s coach, Hossam Hassan, who wants to test his team against one of Africa’s strongest sides before the tournament.

The Pharaohs are also scheduled to play in the UAE International Tournament, where they will face Uzbekistan on November 14. The competition also includes Cape Verde and Iran, who will meet a day earlier. Winners from both matches will face each other in the final on November 18.

The friendly between Nigeria and Egypt will take place at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, December 14.

Before that match, the Super Eagles will play in the 2026 World Cup African playoffs in Morocco next month.

Nigeria will face Gabon in their opening game on November 13. A win will see them go up against the winner of the second game between Cameroon and DR Congo on November 16.
