Nigeria’s Super Falcons kicked off their 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign in style with a solid 3–0 victory over Tunisia in Casablanca on Sunday.
Star striker Asisat Oshoala wasted no time making an impact, scoring just four minutes into the game. She tapped the ball into the net after a scramble in the box from a well-delivered free-kick by Rinsola Babajide.
Babajide, who switched allegiance from England to Nigeria two years ago, scored her first international goal for the Super Falcons just before halftime. She dribbled into the box and calmly fired past Tunisian goalkeeper Soulaima Jobrani during stoppage time.
Chinwendu Ihezuo put the game to bed in the 84th minute, slotting home a perfect cross from Ashleigh Plumptre to seal Nigeria’s dominant performance.
The win places the Falcons at the top of Group B, with Algeria and Botswana set to clash later in the day.
The Super Falcons are chasing their 10th WAFCON title, and Sunday’s performance showed they mean business.
