Nigeria’s Super Falcons have returned to Abuja after winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

The team landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 2:26 pm on Sunday. They were welcomed by cheering fans and top government officials.

The players are expected to parade the trophy through the streets of Abuja before meeting President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

The Falcons made history on Saturday, coming from two goals down to beat host nation Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final.

Ghizlane Chebbak and Mssoudy gave Morocco a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Nigeria responded in the 63rd minute with a penalty from Okoronkwo. She then assisted Ijamilusi for the equaliser in the 71st minute.

The Falcons remain the most successful women’s team on the continent.
