Nigerian singer CKay has taken a shot at fellow artists who once ridiculed his unique take on Afrobeats, only to now adopt the very style they mocked.
The 'Love Nwantiti' hitmaker claimed he spearheaded several trends that are now popular in the Afrobeats scene, including promoting songs on TikTok.
On his X handle, CKay wrote: "History can’t be rewritten just because some people got paid to rewrite it… I’ll always be here to remind you. CKay is the first. I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artistes thrive off today… Y’all laughed when I came up with emo-afrobeat and was on TikTok all day, but now many are doing the same, calling it ridiculous names (and making $$). You’re welcome sha.”
