Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Tuesday. The charges involve three women, and the alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, while Partey was still playing for Arsenal.

He was officially charged just four days after his contract with the club ended in June 2025.

Partey arrived at court wearing a black zip-up jumper and holding a navy blazer. He stood in the dock with his hands behind his back as the charges were read out.

According to police, the case has been under investigation since February 2022, when they first received a report of rape.

Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he denies all the charges and is ready to clear his name in court.

His next court date is expected to be announced soon.
