TikTok star Peller has expressed shock over what he calls an “unreasonable” ₦36 million tax bill from the Lagos State Government.
During a livestream with Afrobeats singer Peruzzi, Peller said the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) sent him the demand for unpaid income tax.
“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he said.
Peruzzi, responding, reminded Peller that all Nigerians are expected to pay taxes and revealed that his own payments are higher than the amount Peller was billed. He advised him to settle the bill to avoid trouble.
Peller, however, argued that the sum was too high, claiming the government had never supported him despite his contributions to entertainment. He also alleged the bill came after he showed off his assets and revealed his TikTok earnings.
The TikToker added that his earnings come only from social media, not from within Nigeria. Peruzzi suggested he ask for more time to pay, but Peller insisted the tax was “outrageous.”
