Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has clarified her viral comment about being open to becoming a second wife, saying her words were misunderstood.
The award-winning artiste said she never meant she actually wants to be a second wife, explaining that her statement came from a place of emotional exhaustion after her past marriage.
“I was a first wife — where did that get me?” Tiwa said during a recent interview. “I got married as the only wife, but here we are. I’m tired of being heartbroken. Maybe I’m getting it wrong; maybe I should try being a second wife. It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to be. I’m just looking for love.”
She added that she wished she could freely express her truth but feared public backlash.
Tiwa’s clarification comes after her earlier comment sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans debating her views on love and marriage.
