Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham is set to hit cinemas this June with her latest movie Iyalode — a powerful historical drama about a woman who takes charge and changes her story.
The film opens in Nigerian cinemas on June 6, 2025.
Directed by Adebayo Tijani and co-produced by Toyin Abraham and Kolawole Ajeyemi, Iyalode tells the story of a strong woman who defies tradition, builds her own path, and rises to power in a male-dominated society.
The cast features some of Nollywood’s biggest names, including Bukky Wright, Kehinde Bankole, Ibrahim Chatta, Peju Ogunmola, Aisha Lawal, alongside Toyin and Kolawole Ajeyemi.
Set in a historical and cultural context, Iyalode explores themes like gender roles, power, legacy, and personal strength. The story highlights how one woman’s courage can challenge the status quo and inspire change.
The movie is part of a growing trend in Nollywood, where women are placed at the center of powerful, thought-provoking stories, especially in political or traditional settings.
