Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong has addressed the ongoing training boycott by the squad ahead of Thursday’s 2026 World Cup playoff against Morocco.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ekong reassured fans and stakeholders that the players’ actions are aimed solely at resolving outstanding payments.

“Once resolution is found we will be the first to confirm,” he wrote. “Any other statement, claim, or demands other than the rightful request written about below is FALSE. All we want and continue to do is focus on the big games ahead.”

The full squad, including officials, boycotted training on Tuesday in Morocco, citing unresolved bonus issues. Ekong emphasized that the team remains committed to preparation once the matter is addressed.
