Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has returned to the White House for the first time in four years, meeting with President Joe Biden. The visit, which took place on Wednesday, was a part of the traditional transition ceremony ahead of Trump’s inauguration scheduled for January 20.
The meeting, while formal, carried political tension. Biden, a Democrat who had briefly pursued re-election, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris after ending his campaign in July. However, Harris was unable to win against Trump, who secured a wide margin of victory.
This meeting marks a notable contrast from 2020, when Trump, after losing the election to Biden, declined to invite Biden to the White House before the transfer of power.
