Nollywood actress and reality TV star Venita Akpofure has advised on the importance of setting boundaries, saying she prioritises respect over popularity in both personal and professional relationships.

Speaking in an interview, the BBNaija star noted that being overly friendly can often be misunderstood and taken for granted.

“You just need not to be too friendly. When you are too friendly, people take your friendliness as a sign of access,” she said.

According to her, she would rather be perceived as distant or “cold” than be seen as too accessible.

“It’s better to be called a ‘bitch’, to be feared and respected, than to be seen as too casual,” she added.

Venita also addressed her career transition from modelling to acting, describing it not as a reinvention but an expansion of her craft, while noting that maintaining relevance has not been particularly challenging.

On personal growth, she emphasised the need to embrace change and evolution, saying she holds on to different phases of her life that have shaped her.

“All versions of me serve me. I don’t let the baby part of me go, I don’t let the girl part of me go, I don’t let the teenage me go,” she said.
