Victoria Beckham has spoken publicly for the first time about reported tensions within her family involving her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham.

The fashion designer addressed the issue during an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, April 16, where she spoke broadly about family, without directly mentioning her son by name.

Victoria, 51, said she and her husband, David Beckham, have always tried to prioritise love and protection for their children.

“We love our children so much,” she said when asked about Brooklyn.

“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.”

She added that despite being in the public eye for over three decades, their focus has remained on shielding their children from excessive scrutiny.

“And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And that’s all I really want to say about it,” she said.

The reported family tension became public after Brooklyn allegedly distanced himself from the Beckham family following his marriage to actress and model Nicola Peltz in 2022.

He later fuelled speculation of a rift in a January Instagram post, where he claimed he had “no choice” but to speak out about his relationship with his family.

Brooklyn also alleged that his parents controlled media narratives around the family and attempted to interfere in his relationship.

He further claimed that there were attempts to influence aspects of his personal life ahead of his wedding, accusations that have continued to generate public attention.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Victoria’s latest comments mark her first public response to the situation, though she avoided addressing the claims directly.
