Real Madrid star Vinicius jr has apologised to fans, teammates, and club officials after his angry reaction during Sunday’s El Clasico clash against Barcelona drew widespread attention.
In a statement shared on Real Madrid’s social media pages, the Brazilian forward admitted he let his emotions get the best of him.
He said: “Today I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico. Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.”
The 25-year-old was taken off in the 72nd minute during Madrid’s 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu and was seen leaving the pitch visibly upset. Moments later, a heated argument broke out between players from both sides, leading to a brief scuffle that required police intervention.
Reports say Real Madrid will not take any disciplinary action against Vinicius.
