The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face the Amazons of Benin Republic in the second leg of the final round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Nigeria heads into the match with confidence after beating Benin 2–0 last Friday, thanks to goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo and Esther Okoronkwo. The 10-time African champions dominated the first leg, controlling play from defence to attack.
However, head coach Justin Madugu says the team will not relax despite their advantage.
“We expect a tough game from the Beninoise, but we’ll be ready. Our focus is on qualification for the 2026 WAFCON and, from there, a spot at the 2027 World Cup in Brazil,” Madugu said.
He also warned against complacency, noting that the Benin team — which includes players based in Germany, Morocco, France, and Equatorial Guinea — showed quality in the first leg.
For Tuesday’s game, Nigeria is expected to maintain the same starting line-up. Chiamaka Nnadozie will start in goal, with Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin, and Ashley Plumptre in defence. Rashidat Ajibade, Deborah Abiodun, and Taiwo Afolabi will marshal the midfield, while Ihezuo, Okoronkwo, and Folashade Ijamilusi lead the attack.
Madugu also has strong options on the bench, including Asisat Oshoala, Christy Ucheibe, Miracle Usani, and Joy Omewa.
