Renowned media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has addressed the backlash over her recent interview with veteran actress Ireti Doyle, in which she asked the actress about her divorce from Patrick Doyle.
The controversy erupted after Morayo asked why Ireti had chosen not to publicly speak about her split or “drag” her ex-husband online. Many viewers interpreted the question as an ambush, accusing the presenter of trying to trap the actress for sensational content.
Taking to social media on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Morayo clarified that the interview was fully transparent and that Ireti had been aware of the questions beforehand.
“My guest got her questions a day before her interview. I wasn’t trying to spring a fast one on her,” Morayo explained. “We are so used to being bashed on TV that we believe every TV presenter is trying to set a trap.”
She also reflected on the public’s reaction, suggesting that Nigerians’ defensive responses may stem from years of poor leadership and a lack of uplifting, joyful content on national television.
Morayo’s clarification comes as part of her ongoing effort to ensure fair and respectful conversations on her shows, emphasizing that her intent was never to exploit a guest’s personal life for clicks or controversy.
