Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has said she has no reason to envy married people, arguing that many of the unions she once admired have ended in separation.
The actress made the remark in a series of posts shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, where she reflected on personal growth, self-respect and the importance of walking away from situations that no longer align with one’s purpose.
‘Growth Sometimes Means Walking Away’
According to Nkechi Blessing, growth often requires people to leave behind relationships, habits and environments that no longer contribute to their happiness or development.
“Growth sometimes looks like walking away. Walking away from people, places, habits, and situations that no longer align with the person you’re becoming,” she wrote.
“Not out of anger, bitterness, or pride but out of self-respect. Some chapters are meant to end so new ones can begin.”
She added that protecting one’s peace should not be viewed as selfish.
“I’ve learned that protecting your peace is not selfish, and letting go is often the bravest form of self-love,” she said.
‘Who Marriage Help?’
In another post, the actress dismissed suggestions that she envies married women, pointing to the number of marriages around her that have broken down.
“You think I envy married people? God forbid. Eighty per cent of the ones I once admired are now back on the streets. Who marriage help, abeg?” she wrote.
The comment quickly drew reactions from fans and followers, with many sharing differing opinions on marriage and relationships.
Her Marriage Ended In 2022
Nkechi Blessing was previously married to politician and businessman Opeyemi Falegan.
The marriage, however, ended in 2022 after a highly publicised fallout between the former couple.
Since then, the actress has frequently shared messages about self-worth, healing and personal growth on social media.
Her latest comments have once again sparked conversations online about marriage, societal expectations and the pressure often placed on women to settle down.
