Osinbajo, a well-known Christian leader, admitted that he once believed it was acceptable for a Christian to consume alcohol. Citing the biblical account of Jesus turning water into wine, he felt justified in enjoying his favorite beverages, particularly red wine and beer, despite his born-again faith.
“I was very convinced that I could drink alcohol. Jesus turned water into wine, so why not? There are many scholars who would say the wine was not alcoholic, but as far as I was concerned, Jesus turned water into wine,” Osinbajo explained.
The former vice president said he had no intention of stopping and had continued to indulge in his preferred drinks, having already made peace with the idea that it was a personal choice for him as a Christian.
