Poland national team head coach Jan Urban has claimed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria were “very cruel” to his squad during their hard-fought 2-2 international friendly draw at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. Speaking to the media post-match via Polish outlet Laczynaspilka, Urban expressed a mix of frustration and admiration regarding how clinical the West African giants were. He insisted that the most frustrating aspect of the match was that Éric Chelle’s side didn’t need to dominate or create an endless string of chances to severely punish his defensive backline.
Instead, the Super Eagles capitalized with ruthless efficiency on the limited opportunities they generated. Urban noted that playing against a team capable of scoring two or three times out of almost nothing is highly demanding, though he kept the result in perspective given the non-competitive nature of the fixture.
“The worst thing is that the opponent doesn’t create countless chances and takes only two or three. They’re very cruel to us. But these are friendly matches; they won’t judge us for them.”

The match itself saw Nigeria show incredible precision on the counter-attack. The Super Eagles opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the first half when forward Terem Moffi successfully tapped home a well-timed pass from winger Moses Simon. Poland responded effectively just before the halftime interval, restoring parity through a header from Kacper Potulski.
The second half followed a similar pattern of Nigerian efficiency. Despite heavy squad rotation from the visitors, second-half substitute Paul Onuachu put the Super Eagles back in front from the penalty spot, leaving Poland chasing the game once more. It took a spectacular, deep stoppage-time strike from defender Przemysław Wiśniewski in the 95th minute to ultimately rescue a 2-2 draw for the hosts on their home turf. While Urban conceded that the goals his team leaked were entirely avoidable, he maintained that the tactical shifts and overall performance ahead of the upcoming UEFA Nations League provided plenty of positive takeaways.
