General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ahmed Musa, has apologised for the violent incident that occurred during his team’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against Shooting Stars Sports Club on Sunday evening.

In a statement issued after the game, Musa described the incident as “heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable,” adding that it does not reflect the values or identity of Kano Pillars.

“What transpired against Shooting Stars is disgraceful and does not represent the proud history of this club,” Musa said. “Kano Pillars has always stood for community, passion, and respect. Sadly, we fell short of those values today.”

The former Super Eagles captain tendered an unreserved apology to Shooting Stars players, coaches, officials, referees, and the NPFL board.

“I am deeply sorry to everyone who witnessed those scenes with anger and disappointment,” he said. “Violence has no place in football. It goes against everything this beautiful sport stands for.”

Musa assured that the club will work with relevant authorities to identify and punish those responsible for the violence.

“Apologies alone are not enough. Words must be followed by action,” he said. “We will take strong steps internally to ensure this never happens again.”

Addressing the club’s supporters directly, Musa urged fans to show their passion through discipline, not violence.

“Kano Pillars is a proud club with a rich legacy, and our fans are the heartbeat of this team. True support is shown through respect and sportsmanship,” he said.

He pledged that the club will do everything possible to restore trust, respect, and the spirit of fair play in Nigerian football.

“This must be a turning point for us,” Musa added. “We take full responsibility and will work to rebuild the image of Kano Pillars and Nigerian football.”
