Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has returned to full team training this week following a long injury layoff, boosting hopes that he could feature in the squad for upcoming high-profile matches.

The 26-year-old had been sidelined since December after suffering a fractured fibula and ankle injury.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Isak has resumed training with the Liverpool squad and is “expected to be called up this weekend and then against PSG.”

Isak has been steadily working on his fitness, and his return to group sessions under coach Arne Slot marks an important step in his recovery.

While he may be included in the squad for this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City, Liverpool is expected to exercise caution, with Isak likely starting on the bench rather than in the starting XI.

The forward is, however, expected to be available for Liverpool’s crucial Champions League tie against PSG, potentially coming on as a substitute as he regains match sharpness.
