The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, demanding an apology for his criticism of Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s attendance at the Pope’s funeral in Rome.

VeryDarkMan had questioned Akpabio’s decision to attend the funeral amidst Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, suggesting that the Senate President should prioritize visiting violence-stricken states to console affected citizens.

In response, the APC’s South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, Blessing Agbomhere, condemned VeryDarkMan’s remarks, labeling them as unwarranted verbal attacks on the nation’s third-highest-ranking official. The party emphasized that Akpabio was officially nominated by President Bola Tinubu to represent Nigeria at the Vatican event.

Agbomhere further criticized VeryDarkMan, accusing him of habitual blackmail, slander, and character assassination under the guise of social advocacy. He defended the administration’s commitment to addressing security issues, noting President Tinubu’s recent directives to security chiefs upon returning from international engagements.
