Bobrisky has opened up about one private habit she has refused to drop, even though she says her romantic life has been quiet for years.
The controversial social media personality said she still goes for an HIV test every six months, despite claiming she has not been sexually active in years.
Bobrisky made the revelation in a post shared on her Instagram story on Monday, explaining that the decision is more about prevention and peace of mind than fear.
According to her, she does not believe in taking chances with her health.
“I’m so weird. Every six months, I still go for an HIV test — even though I haven’t been with anyone in years,” she wrote.
“God knows I just don’t like taking chances or relying on medication. Prevention and peace of mind will always win.”
The statement quickly drew attention because Bobrisky, born Idris Okuneye, has often kept her romantic life away from public discussion, even though her lifestyle continues to attract public interest.
Why Bobrisky Says Prevention Comes First
For Bobrisky, the message was simple: routine health checks are not only for people who feel exposed to risk. Sometimes, they are simply about certainty, discipline and mental rest.
The internet personality said she prefers to know her status regularly rather than assume everything is fine.
Her comment also adds another layer to her already controversial public image. Over the years, Bobrisky has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about social media figures, from her gender identity claims to her lifestyle, public statements and online controversies.
In 2021, Bobrisky said she chose to live as a woman because she believed it opened doors for her after years of struggling as a man.
She said being a woman gave her access to opportunities and attention she did not enjoy before.
“When I was a guy, I didn’t have anything,” she said at the time, explaining that life became easier after she embraced a more feminine identity.
Whether loved or criticised, Bobrisky has built a brand around saying things that get people talking.
This time, however, the conversation is not about luxury, drama or social media fights. It is about health, caution and the comfort that comes from not leaving things to chance.
