Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has rejected claims by Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, that he bit him during their recent celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
The two entertainers faced off at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos on Friday, where Okocha emerged victorious after Portable was disqualified for breaching the rules of the contest. The singer was accused of using wrestling techniques instead of sticking to boxing rules before eventually leaving the ring.
After the fight, Portable alleged that Okocha bit him on the back and held his neck during the match. He questioned the fairness of the contest and insisted that such actions should not have happened in a boxing bout.
However, Okocha has denied the allegation, saying the claim was impossible because he had a mouth guard on throughout the fight.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday, the actor described Portable’s accusation as false and maintained that he did not bite his opponent.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
Okocha recalls previous boxing encounters with Portable
The actor further stated that he had no reason to bite Portable, adding that he would rather avoid such an action entirely.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I don’t want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I wouldn’t do that. He should just accept defeat,” he said.
The recent fight was not the first time the two entertainers have met in a boxing contest. In 2023, Portable defeated Okocha in a celebrity boxing match held at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, where he claimed the championship belt.
Portable has also previously competed against skit maker Carter Efe in another celebrity boxing contest, where he suffered defeat. Following that loss, the singer alleged that there was foul play during the match, claiming his opponent used his long arms to hold him by the neck.
Portable later demanded ₦200 million in compensation from the organisers, explaining that his wife was in labour while he was participating in the fight.
The latest exchange between the two celebrities has continued to generate reactions among fans, with many following the ongoing rivalry between the actor and the singer.
