New Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, has been convicted of speeding after failing to complete a speed awareness course arranged by Derbyshire Police.

The 41-year-old coach, who recently replaced Enzo Maresca as head coach at Stamford Bridge, was prosecuted over a speeding offence recorded last July in Derbyshire.

Rosenior admitted driving an Audi A8 Quattro which was caught on a speed camera doing 36mph in a 30mph zone along Rykneld Road, Littleover, at about 11:41am on July 7.

He was initially offered the option of avoiding prosecution by attending a speed awareness course but failed to show up for the session.

In a written explanation to Derby Magistrates’ Court, Rosenior said he missed the course because fog delayed his return flight from France, where he had been on official work.

“Unfortunately, during the time when the drivers awareness course was booked, we were stuck in France due to fog after the game with my work, as it was deemed unsafe to fly back home,” he said.

The court subsequently convicted Rosenior, handing him a fine and penalty points on his driving licence.
