American R&B singer Chris Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday for a hearing over an alleged nightclub attack.
The 36-year-old star is accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle during an incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023.
Brown has denied charges of trying to cause grievous bodily harm and assault causing actual bodily harm. He appeared in court with Dallas rapper Omololu Akinlolu, 38, who faces the same charges. Both men deny the accusations.
Although he was not required to attend, Brown came to court and confirmed his name. The trial is set to start in October 2026.
Prosecutors claim the attack was unprovoked, saying Brown hit Mr Diaw several times with a bottle, then punched and kicked him while he was on the floor. The incident was reportedly caught on CCTV.
Police arrested Brown in Manchester on May 15 after he returned to the UK for the first time since the alleged assault. He was released from HMP Forest Bank on May 21 after paying £5 million bail, which allowed him to continue his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour.
Brown, a two-time Grammy winner, is known for hits such as “Run It,” “Loyal,” and “Under the Influence.”
