American rapper Nicki Minaj has again raised concerns about attacks on Christians in Nigeria, urging world leaders to act fast. She spoke at a United Nations event hosted by U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz on Tuesday.

Minaj said she was invited after her recent posts on X drew the attention of the diplomat. She opened her remarks by thanking former U.S. President Donald Trump for “prioritising” the issue of religious freedom.

According to her, music has shown how people from different cultures can unite, and everyone should be free to practise their faith without fear.

“In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes and killed. Churches have been burned, families torn apart, and whole communities now live in fear simply because of how they pray,” she said.

Minaj stressed that her call for protection was not political, adding that defending Christians in crisis areas should be a shared human duty.

“This isn’t about taking sides. It’s about standing up in the face of injustice,” she said, promising to continue speaking out.

Her remarks come on the heels of Trump’s recent warning that Nigeria could soon be added to the U.S. list of Countries of Particular Concern. The former president said the U.S. could cut aid — and even step in militarily — if attacks on Christians persist.
