Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis has clarified that he never intended to retire from acting, despite stepping away from the profession for years. Speaking to _Rolling Stone_ on Wednesday, the 68-year-old explained that his decision was not about quitting acting but about exploring other pursuits.

Day-Lewis admitted he regretted framing his hiatus as a retirement, calling it "grandiose gibberish." He explained that he stopped acting to focus on different types of work and expressed some sadness about leaving filmmaking, particularly as his son, Ronan, continued making films.

Reflecting on his decision, Day-Lewis shared his hope of collaborating with Ronan in the future, noting his desire to find a way to work together without the demands of a large production.
