Nigerian music lovers have another reason to celebrate as DJ Tunez, Wizkid, and South African producer DJ Maphorisa join forces on a brand-new EP titled SOUTH GIDI—a compact, three-track project that fuses Lagos Afrobeats with South Africa’s irresistible Amapiano pulse.
The title says it all. “Gidi” pays homage to Lagos, Wizkid’s home turf, while “South” represents Maphorisa’s South African roots. Together, the project is a musical handshake between two of the continent’s most vibrant soundscapes.
The tracklist brings together an exciting roster of collaborators:

DJ Tunez, known for his meticulous production and smooth ear for rhythm, steers the project with an effortless flow, while DJ Maphorisa injects his signature deep-house grooves and authentic South African energy. Wizkid sits at the centre, lending his magnetic voice and effortless charisma, gliding across the piano-laced beats with a relaxed yet commanding presence.
The EP follows studio sessions in London in September 2025, which gave fans glimpses of the trio in action on social media. With SOUTH GIDI, the artists aren’t just making music, they’re bridging a Pan-African sound that’s meant to travel beyond borders.
