Nigerian soul singer, Efezino has congratulated Afrobeats superstar Davido on his induction as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards.

Taking to her socials, Efezino hailed Davido’s new milestone, describing it as a win for Afrobeats and a motivation for younger artistes.

“Congratulations to Davido on becoming a voting member of the Recording Academy. This is not just your victory, it’s a collective win for Nigerian music. Keep opening doors,” she said.

Davido, who earned his first three Grammy nominations in 2024, was officially announced as a voting member of the Academy ahead of the 2026 Grammys.

The singer himself called the recognition a “gamechanger,” noting that being part of the voting process gives him a voice in what gets considered and celebrated each season.

Despite losing all his nominations so far — including his most recent one for “Sensational” with Chris Brown and Lojay at the 2025 Grammys — Davido’s new position signals a stronger presence for Afrobeats within global award structures.

With figures like Davido joining the Academy, many in the industry believe Nigerian music is poised for even more influence on the world stage.
