Nigerian singer Awosika Josiah, popularly known as Fido, has addressed the backlash over his recent actions, admitting he made mistakes in the past few months.
On his X handle, the rising afrobeats star expressed regret for decisions influenced by his ego and inexperience, acknowledging that he was unprepared for the pressures that come with fame.
“I moved too fast without enough reflection. There’s no easy way to write this, so I’ll just say it plainly. I messed up. I allowed ego, excitement and inexperience to influence some of my decisions. That’s not who I want to be, and it’s not who I’m becoming,” Fido wrote.
He also apologised to his fans for his behaviour, particularly for moments of disrespect towards industry veterans and colleagues.
“To my fans who stood by me, defended me and prayed for me, I am sorry. To the legends and godfathers who paved the way, I apologise. Truly. It takes strength to admit you were wrong. I’m still learning, still evolving,” he added.
The singer’s apology comes after a period of social media criticism and public scrutiny, highlighting the challenges young artists face navigating fame in Nigeria’s fast-moving music industry.
